Yes, you can work. International students can work in Turkey after graduation. Especially since they graduate from a Turkish university, their chances of finding a job after graduation increase. However, learning Turkish will be a plus for them and will increase their chances of finding the job they want.

All Turkish universities are supervised by the Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK). YÖK and Turkish universities participate in the Bologna Process, a European Union programme aimed at coordinating academic standards among 47 countries. Recognition for each country is usually determined by the specific educational authority of that country.

The medium of instruction at many Turkish universities is English. Erasmus exchange students and native English speaking exchange students do not need to submit any documents, but non-native English speaking students need to prove their English proficiency. Some universities require proficiency from internationally recognised exams (TOEFL, PTE, SAT, etc.), while other universities conduct their own academic English exams.

Admission criteria may differ for each university, but the basic principles apply to all universities.

During the pre-registration period, an orientation programme is offered to help students learn to use public transport (including student discount transport cards), apply for a residence permit and obtain a student ID. Students can always visit their university's International Office with any questions.

If you are enrolling in an academic programme whose medium of instruction is Turkish, you are expected to speak Turkish. We recommend you to check in which language the education programme will be conducted. If the language of instruction is English, it is not compulsory to learn Turkish, but we recommend that you learn the Turkish language to get to know the culture of the country.

Each university may be different, so please check the admission requirements of the relevant university.

Foreign students can legally work in Turkey after obtaining a Student Residence Permit. However, foreign students enrolled in two-year associate degree or undergraduate programmes may only start working in Turkey after completing the first year of their studies. In addition, this situation must also be in accordance with the provisions and regulations of the university directorate regarding student internships/studies.
